Anticipation

Okay, it's gonna be tonight.  Oy.  Have to make a good impression.

Vacuum run?  Check.
Garbage taken out?  Check.
Bathrooms cleaned?  Check.
New soap and clean towel out?  Check.

Honey, did you wipe the baseboards in the hall?  Did you organize the spare room?  It doesn't matter if no one will notice it!  I notice it right now!

Oh, I only have an hour?  I don't even know what I'm going to wear.  I don't want to look like I'm trying too hard, so the slacks are out.  These jeans don't stay up, and I'll look like I wasn't trying hard enough...  Okay...the capris will do.

Did I light candles?  I don't want it to smell like burnt food and dirty kids in here.  Maybe I should run the vacuum one more time.

Aw, shoot!  I've got to go brush my teeth!
DANGIT!  Now I have to change shirts.  AND put on more lipstick.

Okay, sit down and act like everything's calm and status quo.  Smile!

Sound like an in-law visit?  Not so much.  This is what is going through my mind when I meet the fellow Coastie wives in an area.  This has pretty much been my day today.  I'm so excited to meet these ladies in person.  Most of them I've spoken with online for a couple of years.

It's interesting to live a life where you make a new network of friends every couple of years.  People that in one part of your life you probably never would have noticed or crossed paths with become your closest confidante.

Okay.  Enough typing.  I've only got about 20 minutes until everybody gets here.  :)

Wowie! Sounds like a great night is ahead of you. I can definitely relate to that hasty preparation and all that anxiety.

I can't wait to hear all about your evening.

It went really well! We had a good time, drank a lot of Sangria, and had a lot of laughs. :) When everyone had gone I really felt like I'd made new friends.
