Happy New Year

Happy New Year!

Like many of us, I have had my share of new year traditions in the varying towns that the CG has us call "home" for our tours.

-- First night carnivals amid downtown vendors, complete with hot chocolate and face painting
-- Dinner parties complete with fancy food and lots of champagne
-- Chinese takeout and a quiet night at home
-- Loud, boisterous crowds of friends crammed into a too small apartment, chaos abound

This year, we'll bundle up and head out to see a firework display, weather permitting. These are the same fireworks that were supposed to go off on July 4th. The island of Kodiak received a record breaking 2.5 inches of rain on our Nation's birthday; therefore, our fireworks have been stored in anticipation of a clear night to ring in the new year.

The person who renegotiated the contract from the 4th of July convinced the vendor to add, "New Year's Eve or the next clear evening in Kodiak" because, seriously, who knows when that may be?

New Year. New Traditions. Happy New Year!

Hey! Don't forget that Labor Day was also a back up, but the rain had a different idea that day, too!!
